Dr. Jessica Rothchild was elected to Scranton City Council in 2019, making history as the council’s first out LGBTQ member. Jessica lives with her wife Bridget, their daughter Dylan, and their two goldendoodles in the Hill Section. In addition to being a Councilwoman, she works full-time as a physical therapist for an outpatient rehabilitation facility. She is a graduate of the University of Scranton with both a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Bachelors of Exercise Science degree. Jessica has been a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ community since college, founding her school’s first official LGBTQ student organization. She has served on many non-profit boards. She was an appointed member of the PA Commission for Women for 8 years. She is an elected member of the PA State Democratic Committee and Vice Chair for the LGBTQ Caucus of the PA Democrats.
Jessica is a dedicated and determined person striving to help those in need. She recognizes Scranton’s hard working people and their values. While attending the University of Scranton, she fell in love with Scranton’s culture, including its local arts, music, restaurants, and architecture. She plans on continuing the progress that has been made by attracting young professionals, lifting up local businesses, and improving Scranton’s neighborhoods. She is honored to be a member of City Council and enjoys representing the people of Scranton. She is Chair of the Committee of Community Development. She is running for re-election as a Democrat and humbly asks for your support.
