Dr. Jessica Rothchild resides in the Hill Section of Scranton with her wife Bridget McIntyre and their two goldendoodles, Dublin and Kenzie. She works as a physical therapist in an outpatient clinic for Lehigh Valley Health Network. She attended the University of Scranton, where she received both her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2014 and Bachelor’s of Exercise Science degree in 2011.
Jessica has been a local volunteer, activist, and community leader throughout her time in Scranton. Governor Tom Wolf appointed her to the Pennsylvania Commission for Women in 2015. She was also appointed to the Scranton Human Relations Commission in 2017. In May 2018, she was elected to a four-year term on the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee and also became Secretary of the LGBT Caucus for the PA Democratic Party.
While in college, Jessica was the Founder and President of the University of Scranton’s first student LGBTQ organization. She worked together with other local colleges and universities to form a network of LGBTQ student groups. This led her to joining the board of Equality Pennsylvania, a statewide nonprofit organization working to advance LGBTQ equality. She served as Board President of this organization for three years. Jessica was recently a board member of the Victory Fund Campaign Board, a national organization helping to elect LGBTQ candidates. Locally, she served on the board of Action Together NEPA, a progressive grassroots activist organization.
Jessica is a dedicated and passionate person striving to help those in need. She recognizes Scranton’s hard working people and their values. While attending the University of Scranton, she fell in love with Scranton’s culture, including its local arts, music, restaurants, and businesses. She wants to give back to this community by serving on Scranton City Council. She plans on continuing the progress that has been made by retaining new graduates from local schools, attracting young professionals, lifting up local businesses, and improving Scranton neighborhoods.
Jessica is running as a Democrat for Scranton City Council and needs your support and vote!
